She aims, Bulls eye! : The Archery Academy

Have you ever wished for that Katniss Everdeen moment, not being swoon by Peeta and Gale (partly), I mean the action and thrill of holding a bow and arrow, aiming for the bulls eye like in the book and movie. That’s what I felt except for the braided hair part to complete the look.

If you plan to find things to do in the heart of San Juan, why not try archery at the Archery Academy Located at the 5th floor Intrawest Center, Greenhills (It’s just at the back of Promenade -walking distance) 33 Annapolis street, Greenhills San Juan. It’s the Mint green Blvd, on your way a definite cardio workout since there are no elevators. Landmarks are Atlanta Center which is right beside and like I mentioned Promenade is just near.

Do give them a call when you plan to set an appointment at 0917 8037422 , 1 batch can accommodate maximum 6 people for an hour. You get the 15 minute trial – serves as an orientation too. Be there 15 minutes before class, No extensions granted for late comers. You can follow them on Instagram @thearcheryacademy. They also have an ongoing summer program that you can check.

Tips: You’ll be sweating a lot – good workout!  plus wear preferably sports attire, rubber shoes and have fun. Don’t over think too much in aiming just relax and don’t place your bow and arrow too high then you’ll hit the bulleye. Well it depends also on your height and the proper way of holding your bow & arrow. They’ll be teaching you the proper ways like for the arrow there is a proper side when you insert it. Then gently release and proper body mechanics. Another tip, Bring water also 🙂

The Archery Academy practices safety guidelines and you’ll like the different wall art in every section of the place, very Instagram worthy – compared to other archery places – Where archery meets art.

For the price of P550 for an hour of shooting and fun – inclusions of unlimited arrows, protective gear, use of equipment and range plus coaching. You get to choose from their vast designs of bulls eye, there are emoticons, hearts and Miley Cyrus on a wrecking ball (the first one I got) then additional  P50 for the classic bulls eye

Definitely recommend this place for barkada and families that just want to unwind and have fun :).

Blog review: Carrot Health Soap

13530689_10209872197870502_812536228_n13530403_10209872197790500_2091682352_n

I’ve heard about carrot soaps before – the good effects it has on the skin and recently I’ve been trying different organic products too so I’ll be able to compare.

I received a package from @katrinasclothing to try and review on their carrot soap which is their bestseller. It is manufactured by Prudent trading. Upon receiving it, I noticed how info-ready the package is, it has the indications and directions on how to use it. It is for the cost of P69 for all those beauty junkees who are into natural herb beauty  products, something for you to try. You could visit their site at www.KatrinasClothing.com , Instagram @katrinasclothing and LIKE their FB page.

NET WT. 120 grams as packed, Registered Industrial Design Intellectual Property Office (IPO) Formulation. DTI Certificate No. 0737R-2002 Butuan City, Philippines. Formulation each 100g C40 H56 = 0.4, Organic additives =0.3 Soap base =q.s.

So I’ve been using the product from May to June, The first time I used it, It was like an antibacterial soap – I wanted to target my backne and see the difference as the days gone by. I actually have a picture of my back when I started using it but unfortunately I lost all my files from my memory card HUHU. I was able to save the after photo after few weeks using the soap. So I’ve seen the difference and yeah, my backne lessened. I was unable to try in on the face because I was currently in collaboration with a facial product and that time there were some issues on my face – being safe instead of risking it. Going back, do you remember the first time using anti bacterial soap or anti acne bar soap, that feeling of itchiness and redness for the first time, that was how I felt -It means the antibacterial properties are working (It was just only for a few seconds or maybe I used the soap too much). The next day, I decided to not use too much then no effects. Then the following days after it didn’t had that stingy feeling anymore.  For the second time using new bar soap (They sent me 2 bars) no redness or itchiness. My skin was smooth as well for the following days.

Comfort + Good eats at the Frazzled Cook

13551093_10209871486132709_505145454_n

On the busy lane of Tomas Morato lies Scout Gandia, a familiar route for me when I try to get to places I have to go. Since I have to go to events and my departure spot always ends up in Quezon City I have to be familiar with my turf. So I’ve seen The Frazzled Cook time to time but I’ve never been inside, I’ve seen it also as a familiar shooting spot for telerseryes and movies. I love the front door, its a big round door – reminds me of Lord of the rings. Its like a hint of New Zealand and Santorini vibe for me. (The place is just along Scout Gandia across PKDF)

I would like to apologize, If I don’t get to provide much needed photos. When the bloggers had a sit down with the owners, I was like able to like catch up with them a bit late because I came from duty and a lot of shenanigans happened but I was able to try and eat what they have to offer. I ended up not able to picture how it looks before being chowed down.  So maybe my honest words would be enough to make this review. And I lost all my files in my memory card too :(( Relieved I was able to save some photos.

Interior wise, very cozy and a mixture of different elements brought up together and it looks well put. They have function rooms to accommodate as well. Many decors from around the globe, that’s why frazzled cook is all about international cuisines made for the Filipino Palette. There are a lot from their menu to choose from and they have also a good selection of wines which I noticed. Nice to pair a glass of wine with their meat entrees. The menu is affordable to the Pinoy Foodie and you can bring friends and family to bond over with good food. -Not noisy and not crowded. On weekends they are open from 11 AM TO 1 AM and on weekdays 11 AM To 11 PM. https://www.zomato.com/manila/the-frazzled-cook-tomas-morato-quezon-city

Paella Negra

Pancake Ala Mode

Bestseller is their Paella Negra, it is topped with your favorite seafood and veggies- full of flavor in one dish. I tried their kebabs kinda tweaked it to somehow savor yet a little sweet (as I could remember – very Pinoy) and Salad served with lots of lettuce (which I notice which pinoys love to emphasize when it comes to their salad and a subtle dressing to be drenched with). I wasn’t able to try their pizza, but the bloogers said it really tasted good that’s why I ended up not able to try it because I came late and all was gone so It must be really that good. Well they also have a variety of desserts, they let us try the Pancake Ala Mode topped with pinoy vanilla ice cream- who says you can’t have breakfast for dessert. I still look forward to going back and bring my friends (I am all about food and endless chika).

BB Cream Blog Review: Belo BB Cream (Kojic Acid+ Tranexamic Acid) #BeloBBGirl

13245836_1166479780082244_1682204279_n

Belo Intensive Whitening BB Cream with Kojic Acid and Tranexamic Acid, SPF 50 PA ++++ ,tone corecting (medium to deep).

From my previous blogpost I made a review for Belo tinted sunscreen. It seems that this products (belo bb cream and tinted sunscreen) may be the same – well the color of the cream (both color light brown) but they are different in a number of ways.

Well starting with the ingredients, Belo BB cream contains Kojic acid and Tranexamic acid. Kojic acid, comes from sake or japanese rice wine has lightening properties that’s why you see a lot of beauty products with kojic on it. Tranexamic acid, had its benefits on the skin it has the capability to remove pigmentation and whitens the skin. As a nurse, Tranexamic acid may have to do something with blood clots so I did a little research to correlate with my review. (Like what I said earlier, the capability to remove pigmentation and whitens the skin)

  • Tranexamic acid, a lysine analogue that inhibits plasmin and is usually used orally to stop bleeding. It reduces production of prostaglandins, the precursors of tyrosine. Tranexamic acid has been used experimentally for melasma as a cream or injected into the skin (mesotherapy), showing some benefit. It may cause allergy or irritation. http://www.dermnetnz.org/colour/melasma.html

It has SPF 50 (reapplication every 50 minutes) PA++++, I tried searching what it exactly means on the net, it’s like a protection grade well the higher the better, I guess. It has tone correcting (medium to deep), it neutralizes the color of the skin and covers blemishes.

I’ve tried this product for almost a few weeks now, it is lighter compare to the tinted scuncreen (I also used it as a primer) as the days gone by, I noticed I only apply little concealer so it means my dark spots have reduced. No oily effects after long use that’s why I use this mostly as my primer.

On weekends when my skin is at rest, when I go out like during early of the day, I use the tinted sunscreen and at the late aftie/night the bb cream.

You can purchase this product at any Mercury or Watsons branches for P395 ish. You can also purchase it a sampleroom Instagram:@sampleroomph or check their website for more Belo products 🙂

Sunscreen Blog Review: Belo Sunexpert Tinted Sunscreen

So I’ve been using the Belo Tinted Sunscreen for a while been trying it INDOORS and OUTDOORS plus I tried to make it as a primer as the base for my  makeup. I wear makeup literally from Mondays-Saturdays when I am on hospital duty (It’s like required apparently).

On weekdays when I see my friends, I just go out with no-make up look because its like ample time for my skin to rest. They say you have to always look your best when you go out, you may never know that you may meet “the one”, I’m like too lazy and If he is the one, he’ll accept and love me for who I am. Beauty is skin-deep. But yeah, physical does come first- atleast be presentable. Lately I’ve been going out with a bare face and using either Belo Tinted Suncreen or Belo BB Cream.

So what caught my eye to try this product it’s because mainly 2 things, I really need sunblock or sunscreen- it has been my essential go to beauty product because I really need to protect my skin to prevent the spots on my face to go way darker and ayoko umitim (I used to be so dark- I am not against being dark, I love being morena but the tone that I have achieved today was all hard work. Maybe I am more hiyang here in the Philippines.Growing up in the middle east bilad sa araw really made me look so dark- looking at my old photos plus I used to take swimming lessons so that adds it up). Then it is endorsed by no other than Anne Curtis herself.- I am like a fan and see how influential she is.

I’ve been to Mercury at Trinoma – SOLD OUT. Then crossed over at SM North the first 2 branches were sold out also and luckily there were few stocks left at the block so I was able to purchase one before Belo SunExpert sent me their products for review.

k2 k3 k4 k1

So Belo Tinted suncreen has, tone adapt technology for medium t0 deep tone (evens out skin tone, conceals fine wrinkles, lines and other imperfections) with SPF 50 PA ++++ (protection from harmful UV rays), Cell protect (defense against premature skin aging). It’s Paraben-free, Non comedogenic, hypoallergenic and dermatologist tested.

How do you use the product:  https://www.facebook.com/krishgeek/videos/vb.1499984389/10209115911243809/?type=3&theater

  1. I prefer to shake it first.
  2. Then apply small amounts with the use of your fingertips, different areas on your face.
  3. Then spread evenly. So like 15 seconds atleast.

Upon applying this, doesn’t really make your face look so white (since its color brown)-  just fine, smooth and it is light on the skin. My friend said it just made my face lighter and has that vibrant glow. Though I’ve noticed throughout the day like after 3-4 hours after application it kinda has a sticky and oily feeling. Obviously it’s SPF 50, so it has to be reapplied like every hour if you’re exposed under extreme heat. If it stays long and no reapplication, it becomes oily- that’s what I mean.

One time, while I was at the outdoors – I’ve reapplied the sunscreen a number of times, at the end of the day, I kinda had pimples maybe because of the outdoor dirt perhaps. I profusely sweat a lot, so one time while patting my face with a facial tissue to removed the sweat, obviously there would be traces of the sunscreen.

Indoors, I tried it as a base or primer for my makeup, it was all good for an 8 hour lecture then after that it became sticky and oily. Good timing because that’s my dismissal time so expect to look really haggard. No reapplication since its under layers of makeup. The sunscreen can be used as an instant perfecting coverage for your foundation and powder. For me I apply the sunscreen first, then concealer then foundation and to top it with sunpowder.

For P495, It is available at the beauty section of Mercury and Watsons.  I would rate this product 3.5/5 –good for indoors and outdoors plus very multi functional not only as a sunscreen, it can be as a primer too. Very effortless for an everyday habit and you why not have both, a product that covers beauty and protection! Remember to stay #BeautifullyProtected girls ! https://www.facebook.com/BeloSunExpert/videos

Whipped Sugar Waxing and Scrub Salon: Sugar Waxing and Eyebrow

I’ve been threading my brows for years, I’ve dealt with the pain it comes (sounds like hugot) but I’ve also heard about waxing of the brows I got a little scared all the while I thought its like hot wax and to be stripped off (sounds painful) but then the opportunity came for me to blog for Whipped and they offer painless sugar wax.

13227980_1166480030082219_513881904_n 13228083_1166479816748907_761374093_n

room

Coming to their branch at Forbes Town BGC 2nd floor, the place looks very cozy and relax, it has a counter, mini lounge and 4 private rooms. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The concept of whipped that makes them different is the sugar wax, very all natural no chemicals. The sugar wax once its mixed up all together it forms into a gooey like substance, then once applied and sticks through the hair, its pulls the excess hairs needed. It is less painful but the gulat factor is the only thing you have to endure. It also has lightening properties and how smooth your skin becomes after. The price rates are affordable- varies when your either a male or female.

Price rates!

For the eyebrows it takes about like 15-20 minutes (for both), its like how long you do for a regular threading. The underarms would take about the same time depends on how how hairy the pits are- after waxing they also make sure to pluck the small ones after.

Eyebrows:

Females P200 / Male P280

Underarms:

Modern Girls on Lifestyle!

DSC_0281

DSC_0239

These 3 women with spunk and spice have a lot of things to bring on the table and non stop talks about life, their shared moments and wisdom. These are women who value the freedom of speech, able to speak out their hearts & minds and they equally represent different kinds of modern Filipina women in the Y generation today.

DSC_0287 DSC_0290DSC_0292

We have the young and full of energy Gretchen Ho, an athlete turned host. The young blood among the 3 hosts yet she has a lot of wisdom to share for her age (admire her work ethic) and she shares what she discovers along the way with her new shifted career from her super stardom college career for playing volleyball to being part of the media. Well I admit she can be influential and also a good role model able to balance everything.

Denise Laurel, awed with her beauty she has a very kind and nurturing heart. As a young mom, she broke the status quo “Porket nabuntis, it is the end of your showbiz career”. She was able to prove that notion and being a young mom she was able to make a breakthrough with her career.

Sam Oh, a familiar name in the radio scene and yet she never seems to fail her listeners, She has a lot of things to say and good pointers to think about. Among the 3, they look up to her for she hasd  been in the hosting industry for long and still manages to able to balance, be happy and look fit too!

There’s more to be excited about this May! “Modern Girls,” the newest TV magazine talk show on Lifestyle is every modern Filipina’s survival manual that discusses interests, issues, and insights of the contemporary Filipina that’s meant not just to entertain but to inform and inspire as well.

“Modern Girls” will be hosted by three lovely women, each carrying a special and distinct persona, and who truly embody the epitome of the modern woman- Filipino volleyball player and television host Gretchen Ho, television host Sam Oh, and Filipina actress and singer Denise Laurel will complete your Saturdays with their fun yet truly heartening talkshow “Modern Girls” premiering on May 28 at 9PM.

Celebrate all pink and ice cream haven with Baskin Robbins

DSC_0308

The launch of the latest branch of Baskin Robbins at the G/ F of SM North The Block (across La Lola and SM hypermarket) was all pink and welcoming to all BR cosnumers. They have their wide variety of ice cream. My favorites and highly recommended are the Jamoca Almond Fudge, Pralines N’ Cream and World Class Chocolate. I’ve tried other flavors, but I’ve narrowed down thru the years these are the flavors I usually crave for back home. Enjoy their scoops of Joy and top your fave ice cream with hot fudge and coated with nuts. Convert your favorite ice cream to a milk shake, you can mix two flavors if you want too. They also have ice cream cakes, as experienced for buying their cakes, you definitely have to eat it right away (an hour is still good but there is still the tendency to melt).

DSC_0349DSC_0323DSC_0351

I am glad BR is available here in the Philippines. In celebration to that on June 1st, the launch of their #FundaeSunday ice cream servings and on the bottom you can choose whether the classic M&Ms, oreos and popcorn and in line with that it falls on a Wednesday, show anything of you have anything PINK on you you’ll get a free Junior Scoop with every double junior scoop. Every 31st of the month all freshpacks will be 31% (Yay!). Other offers for June, Celebrate Father’s day with the special motif ice cream cakes. For the month of May they featured the Rainbow cake for mothers day. You can choose from any of their designs from the book list or customize your very own.

With regarding the price, it is still affordable for middle class and yes you are paying quality made ice cream that is rich and creamy. Sarting price rates for ice cream P85 (Junior scoop) to P100 PLUS ish.  Well for the ice cream cakes expect it around 1k ish.

I grew up with Baskin Robbins, In the middle east you’ll spot any kiosk at any local malls/centers and ice cream tubs are  available for sale in the groceries.

Lucky! Baskin Robbins  tubs are already available here in the Philippines, in any of their branches and you can bring it home and eat it in the comfort of your home.
