ABS-CBN Shows have been part of my childhood (That’s how I learn to speak Tagalog, watching on TFC with my family while watching noon time shows and teleseryes) and growing up as a teen  I’ve become sentimental and kilig when it comes to their blockbuster Rom/Rom-Com movies even till now. Even from time to then, I still want to re-watch and do some movie marathon with Abs-Cbn ‘s Star Cinema movies. Now I can watch it on IFLIX! Time to get kilig! (also have tissue on the side for the drama-rama scenes)

Dear Alex Book 2: Dating Tips from Alex Gonzaga (and Wisdom from me too)

Just in time for my entry for Wisdom Wednesday.

DSC_0093DSC_0052DSC_0026

Glorietta National Bookstore, March 20, 2016 was the launched of Alex Gonzaga’s second book called “Dear Alex, we’re dating Tama, Mali?! Love Catherine”. When I was invited for the book launch, I didn’t had any second thoughts and I said I really need to go and my luck, It was on a Sunday – had no training or duty that day.

10157114_10209024871687877_1758644214675373339_n DSC_0066

Alex is really down-to-earth, super bait niya, so funny pa and super dami kong wisdom nakuha sa kanya (Thank you sa mga tips mo and mga advices mo sa akin), I pray that she finds her prince charming talaga- yung deserve niya and he will STAY. Also you have the greatest fans (They super love you talaga) I could feel the love nila for you and they even made you a sash and crown, I am also a fan of yours too! You’ve made a difference, nakaka proud ka!

It was an opportunity for me to meet Alex and maybe get a dose of wisdom when it comes to millenial dating. Yes, I guess I am in the right age to actually talk about this and it is Normal (Hi! Mom and Dad).Kung alam niyo lang yung GUTS I had to get to write this down. Kasi PRIVATE talaga ako na tao.

Helpful tips coming from a guy’s perspective by Robi Domingo (Alex’s “Pards”) who also hosted the launch. He said, guys still opted for that Dalagang Filipina vibe na conservative.

DSC_0035

I’ve read, Alex’s first book which is all about break ups ( I haven’t had my heart broken yet when it comes to relationships, but technically I had my own share of heartaches too- everybody does go through that stage- atleast natuto ako and narealize ko before it got worse, wala pa ako wisdom ng mga panahon na yun) and well, even though I can’t fully relate but she had points in her first book and I would admit I would highlight every piece of advice and wisdom – Ask my friends who borrowed the book. Pudpod ang yellow sharpie ko haha.

Dating is a tricky game for one I’m still trying to figure it out and testing the waters. I am the type of girl, who would just patiently wait for the right one but you can’t just only stay at one corner girl, you have to take actions for yourself- Ayoko maging matandang dalaga and nakakapagod na mag explain sa tao bakit single pa din ako hanggang ngayon (Feeling ko ikaw kung sino nagbabasa na ito gulat din, don’t worry marami kayong gulat,  pero I’ve gone out naman and had experiences – yun lang baka hindi talaga ako ready and ang dami kong questions na parang things ain’t right nung mga time na yun). Sabi kasi ng friends ko ang taas daw ng standards ko and they would describe me “classy” kaya kung sino nirerecommend nila sa akin na mejo sinasabi grabe out of my league din. If kilala niyo ako personally, simple lang ako kasi (get to know me first) ako priority ko ngayon ay ma-iprove ako sa sarili ko. Okay sa akin mag start as FRIENDS, the dreaded “Friendzone, ate-ZONE, nanay-ZONE na yan HAHA “. Meron talagang tamang time para sa akin. Hopefully sana yung first ko last ko, ayoko din magsalita ng tapos , mahirap panindigan. In God’s timing talaga 🙂 DSC_0081

The most important wisdom coming from my mom is, “Love yourself and Focus on yourself first- Mag paganda ka! Obligasyon maging maganda” because before getting into a relationship you should be “whole/complete” sounds cliché and once you’ve figured it out you will attract the right person and you would know if its the right kind of love (Yan mga sinasabi ko sa mga friends ko na takot sa commitment). My mom would quote “Ang lalaki ngayon ay WISE!”

But then I realized  when I was younger, everything was just intense and it is the idea of having “companionship” lang, SORRY! . I would prefer to enter a committed relationship once I am settled. Like what my mom would say, “Kung settled ka, may napatunayan ka, kahit iwan ka ng lalaki, wala ka kawalan and hindi ka kawawa “. YES, I listen to my mom and parents are always RIGHT guys. (Peg ko si Toni Gonzaga kasi). Super open ako sa parents ko pero alam ko pa naman di pa sila that ready i-let go ako. 25 years old daw sabi ni mama makakahanap ng true love (okay?)

Atleast if mag invest ka ng emotional self mo, hindi ka super kawawa in the end. Masasaktan ka, iiyak mo lang and move on girl – May wisdom ka na kasi and you will have more patience to understand since relationships is a 2-way street at si FOREVER, pinagtratrabahuan.

Ito, Huwag na huwag niyo isuko ang bataan basta basta, As much as possible, alam ko mahirap siya panindigan “The best gift to give your husband, is your virginity” sabi ng nanay ko. And masarap to do things intimate with someone na MAHAL mo hindi sa tao na kung sino lang. Parang kasi binababa mo sarili mo girl.

Well reading Alex’s book gave a wide perspective when it comes to dating and her theories and wisdom are yes, applicable to the millennial dating but still the traditional values are still important. Everything now is an INSTANT even relationships, but taking things slow and sure may lead to a long and committed relationship for as long may love. Ika nga dapat may PUNDASYON/FOUNDATION.

If I were you guys, buy the book, it is just p195! It would also be a nice gift to your friend’s who going on the same path or been rusty on the dating scene. A gift to your own self para magka wisdom ka and ma pin-point mo mga mistakes mo, may parts na may GUY TIPS si Alex for the Male readers – for all siya. She kiddingly joke pag na hurt ka balik ka sa Book 1 at pag okay ka na, balik ka sa Book 2 HAHA. These are the wisdoms I got from Alex’s book that is kinda personal to me and I’ll be inserting my personal advices also, I won’t be covering everything guys – Buy the book! Meron din DO’s and DON’TS when it comes to dating din #AlexAdvice

  1. “Rejection is Protection”.
  • It’s ironic for me kasi, kung sino ang gusto ko, ayaw sa akin. Kung sino naman may gusto sa akin di ko naman feel- pero give chance naman and kilalanin mo yung tao. TIP: Dapat kasi CLEAR ang intentions niya in the first place . Nag assume ka na may something pero hindi consistent, something happened kasi maybe it’s not meant to be in the first place. In short,”Kung para sayo, para sayo”.

Kung sa simula may something wrong talaga, hindi talaga *SORRY*, pero yung iba SWERTE.

  1. “Bilang babae, huwag na huwag mong ipakita at iparamdam sa lalake na patay na patay ka sa kanya”– Ang lalake kasi hunters sila and maging easy to get ka and hindi siya mag e-effort sa dates niyo. Mali ko din ito, and it is true.
  1. “Pwede ka naman gumawa ng first move sa guy. Just don’t make the first move physically. It would give him the wrong impression of what you want.” Well if Pinoy yung guy, hayaan mo siya kasi ang pinoy “conservative” daw, pag talagang gusto ka ni guy talagang mahihirapan siya i-confront ka niya kaya give it time. Kung talagang gusto kaniya he will PURSUE

Straight forward ang foreigner mukhang pwede pero still meet half-way hindi naman puro si girl lagi diba.

13023164_10209351273167710_1666329520_n

  1. This one, “May mga babae na pa 21st century at okay lang sa kanila na mag meet sa date place, ok slang, pero sana andu’n naman ‘yung offer ni guy na sunduin ka.

Ito share ko personal ito, If the guy really likes you talaga, IHAHATID KANIYA PAUWI NO MATTER WHAT. Rule ng DAD ko, “Ang babae umuuwi before 12 midnight, and Krizia, may bahay ka umuwi ka sa bahay natin” – CINDERALLA ako.

  1. Treasure theory, ang babae should be treated as a gem talaga. May shinare si Alex, na ang lalaki hunter sila, For example may nakita siyang ruby, okay why not try natin pero ang gusto talaga ni guy si Black diamond. Iiwan ka talag niya. Dapat pala ang pagkaintindi ko dapat, you should be ideally what the guy is looking for.
  1. “Walang true love sa club”. Makaka meet ka ng matanong lalake sa matinong lugar PERIOD. This is TRUE.
  1. Look for a guy, who loves you more than you love him kasi dapat naman talag eh sila ang magpapa-in love sa’yo at hindi the other way around. At yung lalake raw na magtratrato sayo na parang prinsesa.
  1. Don’t go to a hotel, resort at lalo na sa CONDO niya.

I don’t chill, because CHILL leads to CHILDREN  HAHA. Kasi one things can lead from one thing to another. Paano kayo mag get to know each other talaga. Do things na pareho na may interest kayo. Sabi ni Alex sa book, huwag ka masyado mag research sa date ninyo kasi parang binababa mo standards mo. Have the effort to know his interest din and ofcourse if  it works, it will just happen, let it flow lang J May tip, si Alex pwede mag group dates muna to see if he is interested sayo then kayo na lumabas na dalawa. Ito personal, pa ang friends mo may na pin point na may something wrong – TRUST YOUR FRIENDS, yung REAL FRIENDS mo talaga ah. RULES OF FEMINISM na lalo.

  1. Don’t look for someone who is persistent, look for someone who is consistent. Totoo, ito. Super important! Huwag kasi paasa pareho.
  1. “Girl, ang dating eh di’ karera, di pabilisan ito kundi patagalan, hinay-hinay ka lang”.
  1. Cake theory, hindi kasi binibigay mo sarili mo ng buong buo sa guy agad agad, dapat slice clice lang muna. Kailangan kasi i-earn ka niya. Isama mo rin si expectorant jan, masaskaatan ka lang girl.
  1. Last, about sa PAIN #Hugot

Sa pain daw doon tayo mas kinakausap ni Lord, kinukuha niya attention natin- Joyce Meyer

Pain is not natural, because if there is pain, that means something has to change- Iyanla Vanzant

Good news, for Android users you can vote 3 times and for IOS only once. So keep the votes coming!

Before the big night, lets have a recap of what have been our superbods been doing not only prepping physically and being healthy  superbods nation also test their emotional and mental capacity too. Being the ideal superbod, you should have the total package, Brains and Brawn and also never forget a good heart.

The Pre-Finals Weekend saw Jessy Mendiola join Chef Nadine Tengco in a cook-out session where delicious yet nutritious dishes were prepared while Elmo Magalona took part in an intense yet fun Fitness Session with the team of Coach Jim Saret.

Adding delight to attendees and fans alike was the meet and greet with the 26 Superbods finalists, where everyone jostled for selfies and photo op sessions with their favorite contenders. Then there was adrenaline pumping Superbods Super Challenge 2016, held on the second and final day, which had the 26 superbods finalists pitted against each other, in pairs, through a set of friendly battles: a crossfit circuit race (a test of stamina and speed), a super joust battle  (a test of strategy and skill), and the escape room challenge (mind exercising tests).

We were asked to judge, during the cook off. On the positive side, they whipped off interesting dishes and they were resourceful ( for one instance, one used the top of the can as the knife). Others were okay and questionable. Yet we appreciate their effort after the physical and mental challenge they still have the energy to complete the final task. (I am not maramot in giving scores okay? but I learned from a co- food judge before, give JUSTICE to the food). Being also nurse, that’s another story, I have a lot of side notes but the point of the cook-off is to present and promote healthy living with having century tuna.  Thank you Century Tuna for the experience!

Who will win the coveted title of Century Tuna Superbods nat10n ?

I eye some favorites, but I’ll keep it to myself for now and reveal it on my next blogpost with commentaries when they’ve announced the grand winners (I don’t want to jinx it). And to be FAIR as well.- I wish all the finalist the best of luck 🙂

The epitome of style and also lifestyle, Anne Curtis was present during the revelation of finalist, she definitely embodies the brand. I am also an “Annebisyosa” and I really look up to her. She gave words of wisdom and encouragement to the finalists and promoting to everyone to root & vote for their fave superbod, by purchasing a can of century tuna and finding a sticker with a special code to be registered in order for you to vote and downloading the century tuna app available in IOS and Android 🙂

26 finalists vie for Century Tuna Superbods title

A bevy of fab and fit hopefuls was filled with excitement, anticipation, and exhilarating energy as Century Tuna recently presented its lineup of finalists for the much-awaited Century Tuna Superbods Nation 2016, the biggest, hottest and most fabulous summer event in the country brought to you by the country’s number 1 tuna.

From hundreds of fit, sexy, and pumped up men and women who joined the go-sees all over the country, 24 finalists were chosen in a series of intense screenings and callbacks. This year’s batch of hopefuls all showed amazing potential that the competition presented 12 local pairs of finalists, instead of the initially planned nine.

“We are very proud and excited by this year’s batch of Superbods finalists. They are all brimming with potential not just in terms of physical fitness but in terms of personality, talent and achievement. The judges will really have a tough time in choosing this year’s winners,” remarks Greg Banzon, Century Pacific Foods General Manager. ”Furthermore, it’s heartening to see that the Superbods competition, after ten years, continues to inspire these young men and women to stay healthy and in shape through proper exercise and healthy diet.”

Since its inception in 2006, Century Tuna Superbods search has indeed gone bigger, better, and bolder. For its 10th year, this is the first time the brand widened the competition, drawing numerous candidates from all over the country and the United States.

After the rigorous screening sessions which saw the hopefuls strut their stuff on the catwalk and put their best bodies—and personalities—forward, these fine men and women were declared as finalists:

Cool Summer colors by Caronia Nail Polish

Hey girls! Its almost summer, and I know  us girls, are planning  our summer itinerary and outfits too! Add some pop of color to your outfit and  don’t forget to paint your nails (Dapat complete!) because I have something to share.

Caronia Nail Polish launches their “Popsicle collection”, These are 4 cool summer colors ( 2 of them are in matte!) and yes, they are budget friendly and you can buy them in any local store or grocery near you.

Caronia has improved and they do follow and update themselves with the trends. Adding hues and shades that fit every season and matches the young and hip vibe taste. Quality has improved also, now it is easy to apply and full coverage.

ccc

Tickle your senses with colors inspired by the most loved happy food, ICE CREAM!.

My two faves are Peach perfect and brain freeze in matte. (It really depends on your personality and what matches your skin tone and outfit too – well its all about how you present yourself! Summer you have to look good with your OOTDs)

Peach Perfect
Peach Perfect

If you opt for a sophisticated look going out and you’re into neutrals/nude shades like me go for PEACH PERFECT – its a shade of nude with a slight hint of pink for a rosy look.

If you like a sunny, bright and vibrant  yellow shade go for LEMON COOL “happy yellow”.

Lemon Cool

Sunrise Tequila

Brain Freeze
Brain Freeze

And yes, you’ve heard it in MATTE, Go bold and wild with TEQUILA SUNRISE – It is a subdued red orange in matte finish. And something subtle. mysterious and yet alluring BRAIN FREEZE – plain blue shade in matte finish.

Tip: For loud social and beach parties, I advice the lemon cool, tequila sunrise and brain freeze.

I tried all the colors and here is a video clip on my fb page  https://www.facebook.com/krishgeek/posts/10209204846987147?notif_t=feedback_reaction_generic&notif_id=1459572222313546

The Popsicle collection is just LIMITED and it comes with a free sticky note pad – the price is  budget friendly. So don’t miss it and get yours!

Feel free to comment  below  and I would like to hear which is your fave and tips too!

Striking Stripes on the Red Carpet

Red carpet glam on striking stripes that’s the theme of the “Myx Awards 2016” at the Kia Theatre, Cubao, Quezon city last March 15, 20

Expect it to be a star studded event, expect all the young rising stars and well acclaimed artists to be attending. It was my first time to attend to this particular awards night, it may be the hippest and grand awards I’ve attended (Hello I was surrounded by people from the media industry).

I didn’t really expect to meet Bretman rock who attended the event (I  recently entered a contest for a makeup brand, to be able to win a M&G but sadly no luck for me. I’m glad I got to see him at the event- it was meant to be and highlight of my night!) and got the chance to chitchat with him a bit plus, a selfie too! Excuse my haggard face I just got from duty then attended  an event at BGC prior then going back to Quezon city was a hassle (the travel time at EDSA – so much kill time).

My good friend Maris Racal @mariesteller attended as a presenter and my good friend’s sister, Sophia Andres too, It was nice seeing them and didn’t expect to see my nephew (one of the stylist at the Myx awards) -Follow at @rianfernandez888. Shout out to my good friend Sam Hidalgo and her bestfriend for accompanying me!

Imagine myself fangirling to those artists I really like and mandatory for me to ask for a simple selfie.

I got a copy of the list of nominees that night and yeah It was a competitive line-up (everybody was deserving). So its the viewers who gets to choose, I think. You have to vote and register online at the website.

The past Myx awards, I heard usually Sarah Geronimo and Yeng Constantino bag a lot the awards but yet lets give chance to others this time and the tables turned around. Surprisingly, Nadine Lustre dominated the Myx music awards and won a lot! Her named seemed to appeared in different categories along with her IRL partner James Reid. I thought Kathryn Bernardo may stand a chance but the JADINE phenomenon  dominates (Certified OTWOLISTA fan here!)

Nadine Lustre was the top winner of the MYX Music Awards 2016, sweeping a total of five awards including Favorite Music Video, Favorite Song, Favorite Artist, Favorite Female Artist, and Favorite Collaboration along with boyfriend and onscreen partner James Reid.

Another big winner at the awards night was young artist Darren Espanto who took home two awards for Favorite Male Artist and Favorite MYX Celebrity VJ.

RnB princess Kyla also shone brightly at the MYX Music Awards as she won Favorite Remake and Favorite Media Soundtrack for her rendition of “On the Wings of Love.”

OPM icon Ogie Alcasid was a big star of the evening as well as he was recognized as this year’s MYX Magna awardee for his tremendous contribution in the local music scene. As a tribute, a mind blowing medley of some of Ogie’s best hits was performed by  top OPM artists Jaya, Erik Santos, Christian Bautista, Yeng Constantino, Kyla, Angeline Quinto, Jona, Matteo Guidicelli, Jay-R, Aicelle Santos, and Top Suzara that earned a standing ovation from the audience.

DSC_0853

My mom loves Ogie Alcasid, we have his album in our car and my mom plays it when she drops us to school. Then I saw him around our area, I was like this man was part of my childhood and since I heard he is gonna receive an award – He so deserves it. He is an OPM icon and brilliant song writer 🙂

And ika nga mabuhay ang OPM! I was able to watch the performance up front and it was so INTENSE, singing with OPM classic(s) that I’ve grew up hearing and singing to it as well. Matteo Guidicelli, was a revelation to me – he did really have a good voice (I just had a slight fangirl moment).

The 11th MYX Music Awards which was held at the Kia Theater, was hosted by MYX VJs Ai dela Cruz, Robi Domingo, Tippy Dos Santos, Sarah Carlos, Alex Diaz, Jairus Aquino, and Sharlene San Pedro.

Among the artists and media personalities who graced the much-awaited awards night were Donna Cruz, KZ Tandingan, Kapamilya Chicken Pork Adobo online star Bretman Rock, Cheats, Callalily, Jason Dy, Silent Santuary, Abra, Paolo and Kiana Valenciano, Morisette, Jayda, Denise Laurel, JK Labajo, The Juans, Jensen and the Flips, and Ella Cruz.

Chillax Responsibly with Nestea

I call Nestea the ultimate barkada chillax drink, every session and occasion there is a plunger of Nestea in sight- because Nestea is a good mix with anything.

10615609_10208980404216218_3942377880134828111_n1924109_10208972408736336_229590085854554781_n12079308_10208994052957428_8807752378322618028_n600437_10208994064397714_133298912441412693_n

And for this summer, everybody chillax drink launches its newest variant and their ultimate summer drink, the refreshingly exotic NESTEA Kiwi Lemon Blend -Made from real tea leaves and light and its only 19 calories guys, this is NESTEA with a kiss of kiwi—the perfect thirst-quencher for a refreshing and relaxing summer. Also for those on a watch on their figure, you can still enjoy the summer not worrying of too much sugar intake on your drink – yet you still need a dose of sugar rush to be able to enjoy and accomplish your bucket list of summer activities.

Like what Leanne Jacinto, AVP Consumer Marketing for NESTEA, shares, “NESTEA is a brand that draws inspiration from the energy & youth of our consumers and wants to be at the forefront of always providing innovative, healthy and relaxing beverages.”

On its 19th year, Nestea gives back and takes the lead in preserving Boracay’s shores through responsible tourism and various activities to keep the island clean. In partner with Boracay Foundation Incorporated (BFI), a non-profit organization composed of over 150 members representing Boracay’s leading establishments, residents, and expatriates, which aims to bolster the island’s environmental, business, and social needs. Together with BFI and NESTEA brand ambassadors Jessy Mendiola, Tom Taus, Joyce Pring, Sam YG and Arisse De Santos, NESTEA is enjoining everyone to take part in coral rescue & replanting and shore & underwater cleanups.

nestea1nestea3

This is a good step for Nestea because they just ain’t promoting the brand or drink, but also the Philippine tourism as well (since summer destinations in the country are blockbusters to tourists and locals) and serving as an example in promoting health wellness to the youth and young-at-heart, it pays to be active and rehydrating with Nestea light drinks. Don’t forget being a role model and showing us that we, humans that it is our mere responsibility to take care of nature not just tidying the shores but everything that surrounds us. I don’t understand why some people just decide to like dump their waste or trash to anything accessible but in fact they don’t know how they contribute in polluting and affect human health too.

Take part of the NESTEA Love the Beach squad of their choice assigned on each day of the three-part shore cleanup sessions. Interested volunteers can log on to www.nestealovethebeach.com.ph, powered by PLDT ALPHA Enterprise & SMART, to register and get more information

Going back to promoting wellness, on April 26, NESTEA opens the weeklong summer event with a 2-day volleyball clinic for the local youth in Boracay. NESTEA Love the Beach, in partnership with Mikasa, the official volleyball of the 19th NESTEA Beach Volleyball Tournament, also promises an exciting time for volleyball fans and players alike with the return of its iconic intercollegiate beach volleyball competition on April 28. The country’s biggest volleyball belles (Team Plunge) Abigail Marano,Rachel Anne Daquis,Jovelyn Gonzaga,Jovelyn Gonzaga. Then for (Team Chillax) Ella De Jesus, Michelle Gumabao, Cha Cruz, and Sheila Pineda will also be facing each other in the ultimate beach volleyball showdown in the 2nd NESTEA Fantasy Volleyball Match on April 29-30. (Calling all Pinoy volleyball fans!)

To kick it off, finally, in the tradition of hosting the best and most anticipated LaBoracay parties, NESTEA partners with ZoukOut to bring international DJ Kaskade, electronic duo DVBBS, and the country’s hottest DJs to this year’s epic beach party on April 30 and May 1 on Boracay shores.
