Moshi and the makings of a modern, fashionable man

Power Mac Center partners with the US accessories brand to premiere at Philippine Fashion Week

PASIG CITY, June 12, 2015 – Gone are the days when the language of fashion remained ambiguous at best for the male population. Forget distasteful, lacklustre, uninspired—men have come to their own, sartorially speaking. The rise of the modern, style-conscious man is inspired by key influencers whose serious fashion sense is changing the game for a predominantly female industry.

Anthony Nocom (Moshi)
Anthony Nocom (Moshi)

Transitioning from perennially boring to impeccably suave reveals just how men’s style is moving fashion-forward, even here in the Philippines. Says fashion designer Anthony Nocom, “Men’s attitude towards fashion is changing. They are trying to find out who they are and create their own style. There’s a greater sense of individualism.”

This newfound male fashion consciousness catches up on the wardrobe department and makes it easier for style visionaries such as Anthony to create and market their menswear garments. After all, as the age-old saying goes, clothes make the man.

In the case of Daniel Matsunaga—renowned model, endorser, and athlete in the Philippines—clothes do make the slick, cosmopolitan man.  At 6’1, Daniel is one towering and striking figure who effortlessly pulls off a regular henley and sweatpants just as much as a designer tuxedo and trousers. The Brazilian-Japanese hunk certainly embodies modern day excellence in men’s fashion.

“My outfits serve as a fashion statement, and they speak of being comfortable and cool,” says Daniel, who considers suits as his wardrobe staple to achieve a well-polished look.

Classic, relaxed and contemporary are attributes essential to 26-year-old Daniel when deciding his fashion agendas in clothing as in accessories. His work entails a jet-setting lifestyle that he depends on his gadgets to stay organized and digitally connected. “Being always on the go, I make sure my devices are protected and safe all the time,” he explains.

The key is to find a brand that can carry and safeguard his gadgets, according to Daniel.  The tech and fashion-savvy man in him discovered that Moshi perfectly fits the profile and more.

Founded in 2005 with the vision to bring beauty to the world of electronics, Moshi leverages on product design in creating beautiful, practical and environmentally friendly accessories that meet customers’ needs in remarkable and practical new ways.

Moshi is set to premiere in the Philippine fashion scene through its collaboration with Power Mac Center. As the Official Technology Retail Partner of the Philippine Fashion Week, Power Mac Center will showcase fashion-forward mobile and digital lifestyle accessories in the country during the biggest fashion event slated for June 12-14 at the SM Aura Premier in Taguig City.

The US brand certainly has brought refinement in consumer electronics with the Moshi Urbana, a stylish and slim-fitting briefcase crafted with lightweight and durable materials that can carry a laptop and other gadgets. Weather and water-resistant, Urbana also comes with the fully adjustable and removable ViscoStrap™ that allows users to comfortably carry the bag over their shoulder.

Its form and function makes Moshi Urbana the perfect accessory statement bag for Daniel, a tech and fashion-savvy man who totes the laptop bag on the road to ensure that his devices are stylishly shielded from all elements.

“Moshi brings together versatility and design to come up with the perfect carry-all solution for my tech gadgets,” remarks the Power Mac Center brand ambassador for Moshi.

Moshi’s array of stylish laptop bags will be integrated seamlessly on the runways of Philippine Fashion Week, complementing Anthony’s Holiday 2015 Collection titled “A New Attitude.”

Starting off his career designing ready-to-wear clothing for the country’s biggest fashion retailer, Anthony then founded his eponymous label that focuses on creating wardrobe staples for men.

“I aim to evoke ease, comfort and self-confidence wherever the wearer finds himself,” states Anthony.

Inspired by the appealing quality of the Filipino male physique and guided by the principle of flexibility, Anthony’s latest collection is aptly named to epitomize the style transformation and unique sense of individuality of the modern, cosmopolitan man.

Anthony notes that Moshi completes the visual appeal of his collection pieces that are versatile enough to be worn on the runways or out in the streets. “Moshi is a correct match to my collection – simple, basic and does not call for attention,” he enthuses.

With its strong sense of aesthetics and utility, Moshi is indeed aligned with the modern man’s take on fashion. Moshi is available at all Power Mac Center locations nationwide. For more information, log on to www.powermaccenter.com or visit a Power Mac Center store near you.

Celebrity Gretchen Ho is thrilled to see it all unravel. “Fashion is a very exciting part of our culture and it’s about time that tech has caught up with style and individuality,” beams the 25-year-old Gretchen.

Undoubtedly one of the most admired sports personalities of her generation, Gretchen gained prominence during her successful collegiate volleyball career. She has proven her skills beyond the court as she dabbles in hosting television shows and corporate events.

Gretchen, who also runs an inspirational merchandise business and is very much involved in managing her official webpage, relies heavily on her gadgets to manage her schedule and sustain her online presence.

The right combination of style, quality, functionality and price serves as the blueprint for Gretchen in choosing accessories like headphones to match her favorite gizmos. The Filipino-Chinese beauty has had to try on several pairs before finally discovering Happy Plugs, whose accent pieces make a fashion statement for tech-savvy audiences like her.

Happy Plugs, the international fashion and lifestyle brand established in September 2011 with the ambition of transforming essential tech accessories into fashion must-haves, teams up with Power Mac Center for its first ever fashion event collaboration in the Philippines.

Its ability to merge fashion and technology bodes well for Happy Plugs which has garnered a celebrity following, including Gretchen.

“What I like about Happy Plugs is the simplicity of the design and its focus on functionality. The colors and patterns are so fun to mix and match with my different outfits,” muses the new Power Mac Center brand ambassador for Happy Plugs.

An avid runner and a music fan, Gretchen says Happy Plugs has become essential in her workout routine. The Happy Plugs Earbud (Red) headphones is perfect for her as it stays comfortably in her ear to provide optimized sound quality. The In-Ear (Gold Deluxe Edition), on the other hand, fits Gretchen’s sleek and sophisticated personality off court.

“With Happy Plugs, I feel very confident because I’m wearing a stylish piece and with the quality, I feel like there is nothing that can disturb my experience. The styles are also very classic and are sure to last for a long time, so what more can you ask for?” adds Gretchen.

Happy Plugs accessories are likewise outfitted to complement the latest collections of two of the country’s most renowned fashion designers.

Arnold Galang believes that fashion has moulded even the digital world and the big challenge for tech brands is to continuously evolve and create accessories that bear an authoritative fashion stamp. He affixes his nod of approval on Happy Plugs’ range of audio accessories.

For Arnold, Happy Plugs not only meets the demand for up-to-date accessories that are in-sync with the style trend of today’s generation but it’s also attuned with his fresh new take on the basics as well. The brand’s design flair is evident on its array of In-Ear and Earbud collections.

“The use of popular print and patterns and the love of color of Happy Plugs inspired my entire collection,” states Arnold, whose 2015 Philippine Fashion Week holiday collection is entitled “ONE.” “It was so exciting to incorporate something that, as a designer, I have always loved.”

Lyle Ibañez, for his part, underlines how accessories personalize devices nowadays. “You can dress up your gadgets just like how you dress up yourself. It’s become fashionable. It’s a lifestyle,” he says.

Happy Plugs pulls it off with their mobile cases, according to Lyle, whether for smartphones like the Ultra Thin Case collection or for tablets like the Leopard and Camouflage Book cases.

Lyle describes Happy Plugs as very sleek and functional, qualities essential to accessories that are all the rage in the digital era. Power Mac Center x Philippine Fashion Week 2015

Philippine-Fashionweek

Since 2010  I have been an attendee of Philippine Fashion Week, this year its a different set up at the Aura Atrium level 1 of SM Aura Premier. Now the general public get to see first hand this season of designers can offer. But well you have to register or get invited to be up-close. The event doesn’t provide a number of seats for everybody like before, so you have to really have to come early and get good seats or you end up standing up or hang at the Powermac media center like we did on the second day ( I came from another event that day so we came a bit late, but the people from power mac were really friend and accommodating, they offered us seats and snacks )

This year’s Philippine Fashion Week is a  take is on Technology and Style. Philippine Fashion week 2015 partners with Power Mac Center. Perfect timing for Independence day since the event started on June 12. It all about Showcasing Filipino designers and their creations on the runway.

Day 1  JUNE 12 – Beats by Dr. Dre, CaseMate, Moshi and HappyPlugs

Day 2 JUNE 13 – Gosh, HappyPlugs and KnomoLondon

Most of my fave collections were on the first day. On the second day I also had my favorites as well. So far, this year was my favorite season for Philippine Fashion week because the designs were unique and creatively done. I had an eye on minimalist designs,  easy to wear and twist on the Filipino traditional wear. The designers did a good job in creating proudly Pinoy masterpieces. Phfw pulled it off once again, I would like to personally thank Power Mac Canter for the invite and kind accommodation during the 2 days of the event. Check out the photos I took and the ones I liked.

Knomo London laptop bags will be presented on the runway with the latest collection of fashion designer Jeffrey Rogador entitled “Super Pinoy.” Heavy on staple urbanwear clothes, Jeffrey’s holiday collection will use art expressions bearing national heroes to further patriotism and national pride.

For Jeffrey, a graduate of Fine Arts and later studied Fashion Design at the Fashion Institute of the Philippines, both his collection pieces and Knomo London bags match the lifestyle of urbanites. “Functionality is very important for me. Knomo London bags suit and share the same design aesthetics with my pieces,” he said.

Knomo London will join the roster of other accessories brands collaborating with Power Mac Center to take over the Philippine fashion scene, including Beats by Dr. Dre, Happy Plugs, Moshi, Casemate, and Gosh!.

“Power Mac Center is excited to debut at the Philippine Fashion Week, bringing together six premier international lifestyle accessories brands in the market as sleek additions to jazz up the high-fashion runways,” said Power Mac Center Marketing Director Joey Alvarez.
