PSID Breaks The Limitation of Space: Ronac Lifestyle Center, Paseo de Magallanes | October 3-31, 2015
Condominiums sprouting all over metro manila, that is the urban calling lifestyle but haven’t you notice condo units being sold are becoming smaller in sizes.
Its all about maximizing the space, picking and matching what furniture that fit. Dealing with these stuff is a complete headache, personally I have to deal with a 60 sqm condo my parents purchased. Apparently we are on a strict budget so I stepped up and did my own personal touch on the condo and met half way with my dad upon buying the furniture especially (My dad has his points).
I could say I learned the value of “Taking note of measurements”, That’s why I carry a measuring tape around when I visit Ace hardware and SB Furniture. I’m impressed with what I’ve done but it is a whole lot of work and I think I don’t I’m not cut out for Interior designing (I am a nursing grad but I love styling and putting things together – I Love to be challenged too ) but I got thumbs up from my friends on my instagram posts.
Anyways, it is with great AWE and I am highly impress on how the Student’s of The Philippine School of Interior Design were able to break the space and be able to put together a design for a 24 sqm condo unit.
As explained they were set into groups, their clients and concepts are randomly chosen. So that was a big challenge on their parts. Some of the visuals are either sponsored by their partner brands and they’ve done some D-I-Y – the students’ did themselves (impressive right?). I envy such talent and pursuing such visions. 24 Archetypes and 24 units to be showcased by the graduating batch.
That whole element of design and conceptualizing takes a bunch of skills and talent. Interior design is not an “easy-peasy” thing that some people think about. I assumed there are theories behind every design. There are a lot of consideration like the pipe line, electrical wiring, space and such.
Well I had fun mingling with the students of PSID and got to talk to them, My tour was a fast phase (because Heneral Luna can’t wait, my bad I should have booked another date, because I was really having a fun time). I was able to see every unit on each floor (3 floors actually), I was able to ask some questions and had some takes on the designs.
And observed mostly the Washroom situation, I adore the tile works and the considerations on putting up the design (I had my share of experiences dealing with the whole bathroom thing with my previous and current condo)
(a) “The Artist’s” was my fave among all the washrooms (I can’t believe they were able to consume such space)
(b) Featuring the Greco Roman Booth with Kohler Cleo Bathtub (The tub <3 )
and the washroom of the (c) “Anime Aficionado” and the wall tiles of (d) The wall collectors.
What can you say? #BathroomGoals
and when it comes to the washroom floor tiles, my fave was “The travel team” (very Mediterranean – close to my heart). – I wasn’t able to take a photo, maybe was too fascinated 🙁
Probably “The Socialite” and “The Pastry Chef” suits my personality, character and my dream lifestyle.
“The Bachelorette”, is the perfect example of every little girl’s dream. The Comic geek, I love the pop of colors, perf for OOTD and very instagram worth.
STUDIO24 utilizes twenty-four standard 24sqm. spaces decked out in 24 popular trends inspired by unique personality archetypes. Each of the 24 styles fall under 3 main categories.
Ladies’ Lairs evoke the colorful activities and interests of today’s independent women. The styles under it include;
The Pastry Chef,
The Socialite,
The Romantic Writer, (The chair is SOUND PROOF – so you can totally concentrate on what you are doing and not to be disturbed)
The Artist, (The Painting you see is by Sarah Gaugler – awesome! and the design is based on her personality )
The Bachelorette,
The Shy Violet, (That very miss independent college student vibe)
and The Comic Geek.
Meanwhile, Man Caves is geared towards the modern male who lives a well-rounded and active lifestyle. Listed under Man Caves are the following:
The Refined Gentleman, (Reminds you of The Great Gatsby, RIGHT? )
The Mechanic, (When you pull out that 40 inch screen, there pops out a bed, amazing!)
The Young Urban Professional, (The TV!)
The Sports buff, (very minimalist – all white ) 
The Travel Team,
The Anime Aficionado,
The Goth, (Great lighting! )
and The Old Collector (Like the good old days) .
Lastly, Perfect Pairings celebrate dynamic duos and the passions they pursue. This category houses the following styles:
The Retirees,
The Power Couple,
The Newlyweds,

The Brothers in Arms,
The Spinster Sisters, (I really like the pastel colors scheme and the cute furniture)
The Gay Bestfriends,
and The College Buddies (If I were a guy, maybe this would be the type of space I would want – very modern)
Designs for Redefining Spatial Limitations
Millennials today, are setting trends across all markets. In the realm of real estate, millennials’ needs and preferences are even prompting developers to build more vertical housing units that feature micro-condos.
To show just how versatile a micro-condo space can be, despite its size, the Philippine School of Interior Design’s graduating batch of 2015 tackles its personalization with STUDIO24, an exhibit showcasing innovative design solutions that not only maximize the area but also cater to the taste of 24 different dweller archetypes.
Small Space Can Mean Big Potential
According to a study by Lamudi, 42% of the condo units for sale have a floor plan of 50sqm. or less. While the floor sizes decrease, the number of units in a building increases. Therefore, more tenants are accommodated. In exchange of proximity to lifestyle conveniences and the chance to actively socialize, first-time homeowners are choosing micro-condos over house and lots in the suburbs.
Often, small condos carry the stigma of being cramped and limited. However, in the right hands micro-condos can be personalized into a dream abode. With micro-condos becoming the norm, adapting one’s style to a small space is more of an opportunity than a challenge. As long as the space is customized to fit the style and needs of the homeowner, the small size is of very little consequence.

For the past 48 years, The Philippine School of Interior Design (PSID), has nurtured and taught countless interior designers who continue to make their mark here and abroad. In doing so, PSID fostered a legacy of taking unassuming spaces and turning them into the ideal nests. “We want to show that our budding designers can not only adapt to the new norm of micro-condos, they can use ingenious, imaginative, and innovative design solutions that not only showcase their talent but also show dwellers how to transform their space,” shares Pojie Pambid, Dean of PSID. The exhibit runs from October 3-31 at Ronac Lifestyle Center along Paseo de Magallanes.
