Flying Trapeze Philippines Grand Relaunch

That day I could feel the adrenaline rush hissing through my body, though I am not a fan of heights. I couldn’t explain why I had the courage to climb a 32 feet high ladder to get to the plank where I’ll be swinging back and forth holding on the trapeze. With all honesty, I was really excited and there is no backing out, maybe when I was halfway getting up the ladder I was like in my mind “What am I doing? and I reminded myself you signed up for this, Krish”. And I just faced my fears and just climbed ahead, then dealt with it. It was part of my 2015 bucketlist and I was so happy and thrilled  when they messaged me to blog for the relaunch (The power of positive thinking, yeah?)

People asked me, was it safe? Yes! They hang you to a harness and you’ll be dropping on a huge mesh net. Then the instructors are highly skilled and  trained, they can give you a give laugh (joke around) when you are not at ease.  (Tip: I prefer landing on the back/butt for cushion, than landing forward- but its okay 🙂 Then listen to the instructions the trainers says, If he says hold on this and that, Just do it.

Getting on the plank was scary because it was thin! , So I stood up, transfer from one side to the other  and I held into something for a while, the instructor told me not to let go while he was shifting me into another harness. Then you have to stand still, you have to arch your back and have a wide gait to get the right posture. (The instructor will be holding you, don’t worry), Then align the front part of your feet  at the font edge of the plank. The instructor will hand you the bar, reach your right hand first, while your left hand is holding on into something (Like I said DON’T LET GO, until you hear any further instructions or you might fall). Then when things are ready, shift your left hand over the bar. Listen to the instructions and then HOP/JUMP.  I had a hard time arching my back maybe because of nerves, (Kuya had to fix my posture because I was so stiff haha).

If you are flexible and have upper body strength like my pal, Ian. It was both our first time but he manage to carry his legs up and hanged there and swing like a pro.

This is IAN.

I couldn’t express how I felt while I was swinging, but it was sooo fun and cool! (gave myself a pat on the back for a good job)  then the instructor will give you instructions to just let go and bounce on the net. Getting down is another tricky challenge you have to flip or tumble down – or just take the ladder instead- wished I knew earlier haha.

The struggle is real haha

My only mistake – on the first try, I should have like straighten my legs while swinging so I look like a swinging frog on a wrecking ball haha. The second time, I got the hang of it and just let go. I had no regrets doing it. and I am thank to instructors because I trust them with my life.

It was nerve-wrecking, exhilarating and fun! and I was a bit speechless because once you’re swinging through, you couldn’t contain the feeling. I just managed not to look down.  If you are worried about the weight limit, the harness can hold up to max 250 pounds but if you can carry yourself and demonstrate, why not. You have to be 6 years old above – with consent for those below 18 ( I think, as mentioned) . Before you perform any activities, you have to sign a consent form.

The Relaunch was at Federacion Drive 9th Avenue Bonifacio Global City– near McDonalds BGC (They used to be near the football turf/Mercato, they had to move because a new property will be built on that land). The event started with the blessing, message and announcements from Will Hsu (Founder) and everyone were able to try the facilities offered besides the trampoline . The latest addition to the place is the calisthenics bars park. It can be used for parkour but calisthenics is different, it requires lot of endurance for upper body strength. Just approach anyone if you need assistance, Will said “Everyone here is family and we are a community here!”.

I do agree it is fun and it is also a workout as well. I haven’t been in the gym for 3 days because of my continuous events, so you could feel the workout the next day, my arms were kind of sore but Im used to it- you could still manage to move around. (Tip: STRETCH). Also,  good stress reliever when you are drained from school or work. Need to do something over the break and try something new! Not something you do and see every single day. Highly suggested  for company team-building, events and a getaway for those who opt for the thrill and adventure in the city.
